Of all the sentences you expect to write before midday on a Monday morning, “Former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tells beloved children’s cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants that one of his many nicknames is ‘Beef Piston’” is not even in the top 100. And yet here we are.
The Rock has indeed had a very real interaction with SpongeBob – or, at least, the social media goon at Nickelodeon in charge of running SpongeBob’s Twitter account – in which he revealed, among other things, that he carries the nickname “Beef Piston.”
Observe the interaction in full below.
Hey @TheRock, what inspired your nickname…Patrick Star’s home? Either way, we love it! #SaySomethingNiceDay pic.twitter.com/PLL5VzfWGc

Hi Bob, which nickname are you referring to? Big Daddy? The Rock? Samoan Thor? Beef Piston? Or the inappropriate one I earned back in college?
Ps, love your work.

Hi DJ,
We earned one or two cool names ourselves back in boating school 😂.
P.S. Do you smell what the Bob is cooking? (It’s Krabby Patties btw)

Sure, Big Daddy and Samoan Thor are interesting enough as is, and we’re beyond intrigued what The Rock considers to be “inappropriate” given everything else.
But Beef Piston.
Beef Piston.
Beef Piston.
There’s no real getting around what that’s most likely in reference to.
And he just straight-up laid it down to SpongeBob By-God Squarepants, right in front of everyone, for all to see.
Also can we talk for a second about how The Rock addressed old mate simply as “Bob”? Unbelievable scenes.
So not only do you know that The Rock’s nickname is “Beef Piston,” but you also know that a children’s cartoon character knew about it before you did.
What a time to be alive.
