Jared Leto Spoiled That A+ Jacket Meme (Like He Spoiled Everything Else)

Okay, we might break your heart here (and we’re so sorry if we do), but this is not our fault. This is Jared Leto‘s fault; for someone playing The Joker, the bloke sure ain’t very good at keeping up with a joke.

You might have, by now, seen arguably the best thing to come out of the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie – the ‘Jared Leto spies his dream jacket’ meme. It’s a bloody good meme.
See?

LOOK AT HIM! HE’S SO EXCITED! HE LOVES THAT JACKET! HE’S JUST EXPERIENCED TRUE FASHION EUPHORIA! And by the time ‘Suicide Squad‘ has its premiere, he owns and is wearing the delightful Gucci jacket. There’s a clear narrative!
BUT NO. LETO IS HERE TO RUIN THAT FOR US.
He told Vanity Fair in a phone interview that the meme’s story is not what we think:

“The thing about the photo is—I’m going to be honest with you—I was actually making a face at someone across the runway.

I have that feeling with most things [Gucci] makes because they make such beautiful things. But I was actually goofing off with a friend, and you can’t actually tell from the picture.

Sorry to ruin your meme. Perception versus reality.”
We know. We were upset too. Leto could (read: should) learn a lot from comics, but this strip is the most applicable in this instance:
Look, if you need cheering up after your new fav meme was feasibly crushed in front of you by someone who thinks iconic anti-establishment, anti-materialist character The Joker is shallow enough to have ‘Damaged’ tattooed on his forehead and wear a zillion gaudy mobster rings, then watch this dope as hell, far-preferable, 40-second Lego version of ‘Suicide Squad’:
