Accountants In Oscars Mix-Up Barred From Awards As Damning Pics Emerge

The two Pricewaterhouse Coopers accountants responsible for the spectacular Oscar‘s snafu on Sunday won’t be returning next year, Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced on Wednesday.

“I can confirm they have been taken off the Academy Awards but they will still remain partners at the firm,” a spokesperson for PwC told PEOPLE.

It comes as photos emerge of one of the accountants, Brian Cullinan, tweeting a pic of Best Actress winner Emma Stone backstage – at the same time as the Faye Dunaway mistakenly read out ‘La La Land‘ as the winner of Best Picture.

The tweet has now been deleted, of course, tbh it wouldn’t be surprising is Brian never tweets again.

“Brian was asked not to tweet or use social media during the show,” a source told PEOPLE. “He was fine to tweet before he arrived at the red carpet but once he was under the auspices of the Oscar night job, that was to be his only focus.”

PwC has confirmed that Cullinan gave presenter Warren Beatty the wrong envelope, but had previously attributed the mix-up to Cullinan accidentally grabbing the wrong one from a pile of ‘backup’ envelopes.

These new and wildly incriminating pics (if it were a crime, that is, which despite public opinion it is demonstrably not), show Cullinan a teensy bit distracted.

It seems wildly unfair that Martha Ruiz, PcW’s other accountant on envelope duty, has also been relinquished of her Oscars gig, but I suppose that’s show business. Or something.
