Over the weekend, Reinhart shared her decision to return to therapy.

“Friendly reminder for anyone who needs to hear it: Therapy is never something to feel ashamed of,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Everyone can benefit from seeing a therapist. Doesn’t matter how old or ‘proud’ you’re trying to be.”

“I’m 22. I have anxiety and depression… And today I started therapy again,” she continued. “And so the journey of self-love begins for me.”

Reinhart also used her platform – almost 16 million followers on Instagram – to encourage fans to reach out to friends, family, and professionals if they feel they need help.

“We are all human. And we all struggle. Don’t suffer in silence… Don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help.”

In January 2018, Reinhart told V Magazine that her limited knowledge of mental health growing up encouraged her to speak openly about it now.

“I didn’t learn about depression or anxiety at school. So when I had to go to my parents to say ‘I need help, I need to go to therapy,’ I felt like this weird, messed up kid. And I wasn’t, but I felt that way.”

During mental health awareness month in 2017, Reinhart revealed how Riverdale had come into her life “when I was going through the worst depression I have ever experienced. And in the end, it completely saved me.”
