By now, you have almost definitely seen the video of the mysterious creature that I am for now referring to as the La Junta Goblin. Captured on CCTV outside the home of a woman named Vivian Gomez in beautiful La Junta, Colorado, the footage shows something that looks a lot like Dobby the House Elf from Harry Potter doing the chicken dance in thongs.
My first thought was that this was something fake someone was posting in the hopes of going viral. My second thought was that it was some sort of covert marketing campaign. My third (and most hopeful) was that maybe it was aliens. The truth, I am starting to believe, is substantially more mundane.
This video of a weird, skinny creature moving in a funny way while doing the chicken dance seems very much like it is the entirely the product of Gomez’s 9-year-old son, Bobby, being strange for a laugh. It explains where the creature came from, how it came from inside the house, and why it is wearing what appears to be underwear on its head, but Gomez is not buying it.
When Gomez appeared on Inside Edition to talk about the strange apparition in her driveway, she agreed that, yes, Bobby “likes to play around and joke around and likes to dance.” But she vehemently denied that it could be him, saying that she wouldn’t let him out at dark by himself.
Lady, it was Bobby.
