Henry Cavill and that beautiful, luscious platinum grey mane is heading to Netflix later this year, the streaming giant’s Chief Content Officer (CCO) revealed. The Witcher, a live-action adaptation of the video game and novels will land during the company’s fourth quarter, so that’s sometime between October and December.
Netflix first announced the series last September. At the time, Variety reported season one will feature eight one-hour episodes which is prime bingeing material. Cavill will star as the White Wolf, the Butcher of Blaviken, the Geralt of Rivia.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serves as showrunner. She’s got writing and producing credits on both of Netflix’s The Defenders and Daredevil.
Per Variety, CCO Ted Sarandos also hyped new seasons of Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why, Casa de Papel, Elite, and Orange is the New Black. Sarandos also teased the release of films The Irishman and 6 Underground. That latter one, directed by Michael Bay, stars Ryan Reynolds, Ben Hardy, and Dave Franco so expect a lot of ka-pow and bang bang.

On Twitter, showrunner Hissrich has tweeted some goodies from set including shots of the scenery in Hungary and life with Geralt.

Little else is known about the series but we’re sure Netflix will start dangling morsels of The Witcher in the coming months.
