Never before have sex and fashion gone so hand in hand...

A big chunky leather bangle with tiny gold embellishments in the shape of vaginas and nipples. A beautiful coral necklace that more that slightly resembles labia folds. These fashionable little "vulgarities" are just subtle enough that you could get away with wearing them to work, or out to a fancy dinner. You would have to do a double take to really notice what they are.

the image above on the left is the Desert Flower Brooch (coral set in bubbled gold) by Liz Goldwyn. Liz graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, then went on to be a film director. In addition to her film career, Liz has also held several fashion positions. She worked in the fashion department of Sotheby's, and also as a global consultant for Shiseido America. In 2002 she launched her line of one of a kind jewelry, which is now sold at Barneys New York, LA, and Japan, Kaviar & Kind in LA, Ikram in Chicago, and Colette in Paris.
Liz has also created pieces for the upcoming film "Running with Scissors" for Annette Bening, which is based on Augustyn Burroughs memoirs.

The image on the right is one of the embellishments on a bracelet by Sydney Designer Nikki Majajas, whose label is called Pearls Before Swine. Nikki recently graduated from the Enmore Design Centre. Her current collection is titled "the Body Upholstery Series" and it includes large upholstered bangles, necklaces, and rings with small pussies, nipples, and various other shapes as embellishments. I purchased one of the Pearls Before Swine bracelets at the Hope Street Markets a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it!

High-end designers such as Sonia Rykiel are making the subject of sex a lot more comfortable for a lot of women. It's no longer something "dirty", or something to be ashamed of. It's luxurious. And expensive.

The French designer label (now run by Sonia's Daughter Nathalie) has begun selling a variety of sex toys and lingerie in the basements of select Sonia Rykiel boutiques around the world. Since it is an established luxury label with a reputation to uphold, Nathalie has been very careful about presenting the toys in a really classy way. Vibrators are served up in rhinestoned silk evening bags. Taking the leap into that niche market was a huge risk, but it ended up working out stupendously.

P.S. Check out my upcoming interview with Pearls Before Swine!!!!!
